RSSBioplane or flight of PR fantasy?

SO Sir Richard Branson…hero or villain? His Virgin Atlantic airline carried out the world’s first flight of a commercial aircraft powered with biofuel.
It was designed to prove jets can cut back on the huge carbon dioxide emissions produced by normal aviation fuel.
The results are eagerly awaited but while some claim it’s a breakthrough, just as many have dismissed it as a cheap publicity stunt.
They point out that to power up Branson’s entire fleet would mean turning half of the UK’s arable land over to bio-juice production.
Aircraft engines are currently emitting huge quantities of gases and particulates which are contributing greatly to global warming and the sinister global dimming.
So are bio-fuelled jets a starter or not? What do you think? Please feel free to comment.
